Requirements to Participate in Ride-Along Program
- The participant must be at least 18 years of age.
- The participant must have no felony arrest; a limited background check is required for IDACS/ CJIS requirements.
- The request must be made at least two weeks before the date of the intended ride-along.
- The participant must understand and agree to the conditions of the ride-along, such as the signing of the liability/release form.
- Participants must follow the discretion of any officer for safety purposes. A supervisor many be contacted if there is a concern that a ride-along may be terminated.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind may be carried on a ride-along, even with carry permits.
- No derogatory, racist, defamatory, military, or police style clothing is allowed by the participant.
- No audio or video recordings by the participants will be permitted without prior permission from the department.
Operation of Ride-Along Program
- The hours of operation are at the Patrol Commander’s discretion. Participants will be allowed to ride in 4-hour increments.
- All Participants are limited to two (2) rides per year.
Ride-Along Procedure
- A citizen interested in participating in the ride-along program should complete the Ride-Along Request Form. You will receive an email once your ride-along request has been either approved or denied.
- Participants will be required to comply with CJIS training requirements and sign CJIS documentation and a liability waiver before completing a ride-along.
