Evansville Police Department

Community Academy

Community Academy

The Community Academy is offered in the Spring and in the Fall of each year. Sessions are held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings for 12 weekly sessions.

The goal of the Community Academy is to give members of the community an inside look at the various units of the police department and to create better understanding and communication between citizens and police through education.

This is an opportunity for the citizens of the community to know more about the men and women who are protecting their community and why they make the decisions they do. The Academy also presents an opportunity for the citizens to voice any comments or concerns directly to the department.

Members of the department will be instructing each session and will be covering topics relevant to the units in which they work.

The Academy will span 12 weeks with extremely interesting information. Of course, there is limited seating, so register early and please share with anyone who might be interested.  We have added extra nights for optional dispatch and jail tours which will occur on a Wednesday night during the Academy. The tours will last one to two hours.  With your help in spreading the word, this program just continues to get bigger and better and that is much appreciated.
