CALEA Accreditation

The Evansville Police Department is proud to be a CALEA accredited agency. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) was established in 1979 to assist law enforcement agencies in establishing and maintaining high standards of excellence. The EPD was last awarded full accreditation in 2021, after participating in a multi-year process. CALEA thoroughly examined all aspects of the Department’s management, operations, policies, procedures and support systems. The Department conducted a detailed self-assessment and participated in an on-site review by a team of CALEA assessors. CALEA accredited agencies participate in an annual web based assessment process to maintain accreditation status. The community also had the opportunity to participate in the process by providing comments and observations.
