The Evansville Police Department administers a volunteer, unpaid internship program that aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the duties and responsibilities of being a Police Officer with the Evansville Police Department.
Interns will gain insight not only into police work in general, but also into the potential career paths available within the Evansville Police Department.
Internships will be granted only if department operations and staffing allow for the additional work demands required. Preference will be given to collegiate juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement, particularly those who are interested in employment with the Evansville Police Department.
The Personnel Unit administers the Department’s Internship Program. Each student’s internship is developed according to the department’s internship philosophy as well as the educational institutions requirements.
Prospective interns should review the Internship Program Guidelines and Expectations, the Internship Curriculum, and the Internship Application.
Applications or questions about the internship program should be submitted to Sergeant Dexter Wolf. Applications can be submitted via email, fax, or in person.
