East Sector officers provide services within the boundaries of U.S. Highway 41 to the Lloyd Expressway and east to Weinbach Avenue north and south to the city limits. The East Sector is divided into beats with 3 crime prevention officers assigned to the sector. There are 17 active neighborhood associations within the sector.
The East Sector Citizens’ Committee meets bi-monthly on the third Tuesday of the month beginning in January. Due to the increase in Latino residents on the east side, crime prevention officers established a Latino outreach program to foster better relations and understanding between the community and police. The program has continued to evolve and grow to include other agencies throughout the City of Evansville.
South Sector patrol officers provide services within the boundaries of Lloyd Expressway south to I-164, and east of the Ohio River to S. Weinbach Avenue. The South Sector is divided into beats with 3 crime prevention officers assigned to the sector. There are currently 12 active neighborhood associations within the sector.
The South Sector Citizens’ Committee meets bi-monthly on the second Thursday beginning in January. South Sector has also been working on gaining recognition as an official Weed and Seed site. The main focus of the south sector Weed and Seed is prisoner re-entry and the goal is to give offenders the support they need to keep from re-offending. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at the South Sector office.
West Sector patrol officers provide services within the boundaries of U.S. Highway 41 and the Lloyd Expressway north to the county line, including Ohio Street around to Ray Becker Parkway, including the remainder of the west side to the county line. The West Sector is divided into beats with 4 crime prevention officers assigned to the sector. There are currently 15 active neighborhood associations within the sector.
The West Sector Citizens’ Committee meets every third Thursday of the month, except during the month of December. The West Sector also has an area designated as an official Weed and Seed graduated site. The Weed and Seed philosophy encourages a collaborative effort between the government and residents to reduce or “weed out” crime and restore or “seed in” positive programs within the targeted neighborhood area.
