Personnel Unit

EPD

The Personnel Unit is responsible for the maintenance of personnel records of members of the department. This unit is liaison between the police department and the Police Merit Commission and conducts the bi-monthly applicant and bi-annual promotional processes in a joint effort with the commission. 


The Personnel Unit is staffed by two sergeants and one Civilian Personnel Specialist and is responsible for monitoring the progress of officers during their probationary period and maintains liaison with other units within the department for this purpose. The Personnel Unit also maintains liaison with the Southwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. 


This unit is responsible for coordinating physical fitness assessments and refers department personnel to sources of information for general health and fitness issues. 


This unit is responsible for the recruiting efforts of the department and works closely with the Chief of Police, the Police Merit Commission, and the Minority Recruitment Committee in this effort.
