Evansville Police Department

Information Technology

The Information Technology Unit is staffed by one Lieutenant, one officer, and two civilians. The IT Unit administers EPD software and maintains radio equipment. It also works closely with the city computer services contractor and Vanderburgh County Sheriff Office data operations personnel to foster smooth running of the department’s technology and software. The unit also conducts computer operations and software training for department members.

The Evansville Police Department Information Technology is working with a community camera registry to help solve crime through the ability to gather video quickly. Citizens, either homeowners or business owners, can register their surveillance cameras through a company called Polaris and law enforcement officials can access the video after a crime has been committed in the area. This is completely voluntary and the video is only accessible to authorized public safety personnel. There is no cost to register your camera.
